BEYONCE , RACHEL ROY AND JAY Z RUMORS EXPLAINED

So what’s going on here?

Beyoncé released her new album Lemonade on Saturday night out of nowhere. The drop came after the airing of her HBO special by the same name, an hour-long film made to accompany the music.

Why did everyone start talking about her marriage to Jay Z when the album dropped?

Because you couldn’t not. The narrative arc of the album is about a woman who is driven into rage and depression upon discovering that her man is cheating on her. People were quick to jump to conclusions.

Is this the first time that their marriage is in trouble?

Hardly. Rumors swirled that a divorce was eminent in 2014, after Beyoncé’s sister Solange attacked Jay Z in an elevator, allegedly over his supposed infidelity. Those rumors started to circulate again in recent months, and with Lemonade, Beyoncé seemed to be telling the world that they were true.

Who is “Becky?” Is that who Jay Z may have cheated on Beyoncé with?

On Sorry, Beyoncé sings, “He better call Becky with the good hair,” which is seemingly a reference to Jay Z’s mistress. Hours after the album dropped, Rachel Roy, a fashion designer and ex-wife of Jay Z’s old business partner, posted this on Instagram:
Many took her reference in the caption to “good hair” to be an admission that she is “Becky.” The same night she went after Jay Z in the elevator, Solange allegedly yelled at Roy — among others — at the 2014 Met Gala, and there were rumors that she thought her brother-in-law’s relationship with Roy was inappropriate.

Why can’t I see Roy’s Instagram?

Because she’s since locked her account and made it private. Beyoncé supporters went after her on social media for being the alleged other woman. Roy tweeted this in response:

I respect love, marriages, families and strength. What shouldn't be tolerated by anyone, no matter what, is bullying, of any kind.
