A Nigerian woman who would like to be anonymous said she was held for 12 hours at the JFK airport on arrival. She was then issued a 5 year ban and immediate deportation irrespective of her 2 year valid visa and without criminal records or health issues.
On asking to know her crime , she was told that she flew in with Qatar airways and was queried on her reason for flying through Qatar as against any of the European countries, she simply explained that that was the cheapest ticket she was able to get considering the situation in the country.
The immigration officers searched her thoroughly, went through her phones for text messages and calls , called her employer in Nigeria for clarification but was still not satisfied. The officers finally came up with two options for her; be in US detention until they are through with investigation or be deported to Nigeria.
Let us be mindful of the airlines we take and also this is not the time to assist anyone deliver any kind of message especially when you don't know the content. This ban na wa! Na real wa!
