HILARY CLINTON DIAGNOSED WITH PNEUMONIA
After nearly fainting at the National September 11 Memorial in New York City on Sunday, Hillary Clinton's doctor says the Democratic presidential candidate is recovering from pneumonia in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.
"Secretary Clinton has been experiencing a cough related to allergies," Dr. Lisa R. Bardack, M.D. said in the statement. "On Friday, during follow up evaluation of her prolonged cough, she was diagnosed with pneumonia. She was put on antibiotics, and advised to rest and modify her schedule.
While at the event, she became overheated and dehydrated." Bardack added that her patient, who was re-examined upon returning to her Chappaqua, New York, home on Sunday, is now "re-hydrated and recovering nicely." About an hour into the ceremony, Clinton became overheated and had to leave early.
She was later seen at her daughter Chelsea Clinton's New York City apartment, and told the crowd she was doing "great" in a video posted to the NBC Facebook page.
On Sunday, Clinton's campaign released a statement about the presidential candidate's condition.
"Secretary Clinton attended the September 11th Commemoration Ceremony for just an hour and thirty minutes this morning to pay her respects and greet some of the families of the fallen," her campaign said in a statement. "During the ceremony, she felt overheated so departed to go to her daughter's apartment, and is feeling much better."
