Today in, “Wait, what? Why?”
we’ve learned that new parents are paying over $300 for a DOLL. A doll!
But, hang on, we kind of don’t blame them because this little doll,
which was designed by Icelandic researchers to help newborns sleep, seems amazing.
It’s called the Lulla Doll, and it’s literally changing lives. The doll utilizes four out of the five senses, everything except taste, to put little ones at ease (and so moms and dads and, ahem, aunts don’t lose their minds).
First up, there’s sound. If you press the doll’s chest, the Lulla begins playing a recording of a real mother’s heartbeat and breathing. So cool. And, then, there’s the look. The doll has also been designed to have a human face (a gender and race neutral face, we might add), as that tends to be more comforting for babies, rather than, say, an animal doll.
The doll can
even absorb smell! Moms and dads just have to hold it close to their
skin for a little while before passing it on to their babe. And, lastly,
the doll was made with natural cotton and a hypoallergenic filler, and
is machine-washable.
