Donald Trump hired ‘standout’ ‘The Apprentice’ star Omarosa Manigault to be his new director of African-American outreach.
It’s unclear exactly which African Americans she’s supposed to be reaching out to…and when she does, we’re not even sure how it’s going to go.
via NY Daily News:
The hated reality star, whose antics
as a self-proclaimed “greatest reality TV villain of all time” propelled
the billionaire’s show’s ratings in its pilot season, will have a new
job under Trump, as his ambassador to African-American voters.
“It’s really an extension of the work
the coalition has already been doing, so I’m very happy to take up that
cause for Donald Trump,” Omarosa, the former vice chair of Trump’s
National Diversity Coalition, said on MSNBC.
Omarosa is has a tall task ahead of
her, as only 1% of black voters support Trump, with 91% favoring his
Democratic challenger, Hillary Clinton, according to a Quinnipiac
University poll.
In Ohio and Pennsylvania, two crucial
swing states for 2016’s election, Trump is doing even worse among black
voters, polling at 0% — but Omarosa is skeptical of that statistic.
“I wonder who they polled, I just
spent an amazing weekend with African-Americans for Trump, about 300 of
them,” Omarosa said. “Those numbers would be flawed according to the
people who have come out to support.”
She argued that Trump will win over
black voters by providing jobs, claiming that “unemployment in the
African-American community is at an all-time high,” despite the fact
that the Bureau of Labor Statistics would prove her wrong.
The reality star rose to fame as a TV
villain with her controversial and backstabbing tactics to succeed on
Trump’s first season of “The Apprentice.” Outside of her political
aspirations, Omarosa has partnered up with Trump in the past, creating a
reality dating series with the GOP candidate.
