APC NWC MEMBERS AND LEADERS ANGRY OVER NO SALLAH RICE AND RAM FROM THE PRESIDENT

Members of the National Working Committee of the All Progressive Congress (APC) of the ruling party are angry with president Buhari who is the leader of their party over what they describe as gross irresponsibility and insensitivity on the part of their party leader.


Many of the party leaders who were present at the party’s secretariat yesterday complained that the president does not behave like a party man. One high ranking member who spoke to LeadersNG said the president has forgotten so soon how he won the 2015 general election with the help of everyone in the party. This party ensured the victory was possible. The president is killing the organs and structures of the party. Imagine a common thing such as Sallah Rice and Ram, the president as we speak did not send anything to the party secretariat for top party members or even secretariat staffs. He added that Political parties are sustained through  patronage and not unending talk of fight against corruption. Since politics is a game of number, if we do not have the number, how do we win elections? We won last year because we had the number, because we took care of our people.

Another senior party official from the president’s home state ‘Katsina’ who does not want to be named also spoke with our correspondent saying: “The president is surrounded by greedy men who have hijacked power and are using it for their selfish interest. They have forgotten the party that brought them into power. Without the party, they will not be in Aso Rock today. As you can see, everyone in the secretariat is not looking happy and tomorrow is Sallah. Look at how boring our secretariat is and tomorrow is Sallah and we have a Muslim president who is the leader of our party. The people surrounding the president are not helping the president. They are destroying our party. Inside our meeting, party leaders were insulting the president. They are angry with him that he has forgotten how hard we worked for his emergence last year. The president was always coming to this secretariat before he became president but now he has forgotten about us.”

Further investigation by LeadersNG reveal that the APC National Chairman, Chief Odigie Oyegun is under serious pressure by members of the party to draw the displeasure of party members to the attention of the president. Many members believe that Chief Oyegun is too weak and afraid of the president to speak truth to power, a situation many say will affect the political fortune of the party in 2019 if an immediate solution is not found. Many party leaders and members have so many demands they have made to the president through Chief Oyegun, none of which has been accomplished ranging from appointments into Boards and Agencies of government to political favours and patronage then award of contracts to party members, etc. A close aide of the National Chairman told LeadersNG that even the principal officers to the Chairman are angry with him and the president. The source said that party members are not happy. They feel abandoned by a president they worked so hard for while unknown people are being rewarded. (Leaders NG)
