COALITION AGAINST CORRUPT LEADERS STOP DISTRACTING THE FG
The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) an anti-corruption group, has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government for its silence on the leaked Panama Papers.
The controversial papers had exposed some top world corrupt public office holders, including prominent Nigerians.
CACOL in a statement issued on Friday, by its executive chairman, Debo Adeniran, said the government’s “indifference” to the scandal was “worrisome and repugnant.”
This group from their statement above says that President Buhari's silence is worrisome. I have few questions for Mr. Debo Adeniran and the group : Do you want President Buhari to go and prosecute the world leaders? Why call for Bukola Saraki's resignation? Aliko Dangote's name was mentioned likewise his half brother Sayyu Dantata also MRS oil and gas and according to Premium Times , investigation is on going.
If the SP resigns being a public office holder according to you, what punishment would you want to mete to Aliko Dangote and others?
The country is currently going through some unforeseen hardship - No power supply, Limited supply of petroleum products, No cash flow, to mention but a few and all you are interested in is the persecution of Nigerians that are linked to offshore investment in Panama.
While I, strongly detest corruption and corrupt practices, your call on the President to act on Panama Papers at this moment clearly indicates how insensitive you and your group are. What should worry your group now is the state of the nation. University of Lagos was shut down due to students protest on lack of water , Light and other issues, at least 3 albinos die every month since their free medical was stopped recently, 2million youths in Kano lost their jobs in a pure water manufacturing company due to high cost of raw materials, 2,000 Nigerians working in foreign airline companies are being laid off due to foreign exchange challenges, the private players in the oil sector are unable to access dollars hence supply not meeting demand.
CACOL seem to be interested in the government handling global issues and not national matters by citing that the Federal governments attitude to the Panama revelation is lackadaisical or indifferent. An average Nigerian yearns for stable economy and to have basic needs within reach . Your call is nothing but misplaced priority, distracting, insensitive and malicious. Let us join hands and move this great nation forward and not backward.
