N200,000 BAIL OVER ALLEGED THEFT OF FISH WORTH N23,750


An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court on Monday admitted a 28-year-old woman, Saliu Kafayat, to bail in the sum of N200,000 for alleged theft of dried fish valued N23,750.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olubukola Olowolagba, ordered the defendant to produce one reliable surety in like sum.

Olowolagba said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, deposed to affidavit of means, show evidence of tax payment and attach two passport size photographs.
She adjourned the case till April 11 for hearing.
Prosecutor Olaiwola Rasak told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometimes at about 2 p.m. at Amadiya Sabo Area of Osogbo on Nov. 4, 2015.
Rasak said that Kafayat cheated Fatai Modinatu by refusing to pay for the dried fish.
He said the offence contravened Sections 421, 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun state, 2003.
Kafayat pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge.
Her Counsel Raji Abiola had prayed the court to grant her client bail in the most liberal terms.
