EDUCATION MINISTER AND REPS CLASH OVER SACK OF VC'S

Individuals from the House of Representatives Committee on Tertiary Education and the Minister of Education, Mr. Adamu, conflicted on Tuesday over the sacking of five of the 12 college bad habit chancellors the Federal Government withdrew from administration weeks back.

Legislators and the ministers traded hot words over the lawfulness of the sacking of the VCs, which the previous said was done while their tenure had not lapsed.

The VCs being challenged were those of the government colleges Eyo-Ekiti, Binin Kebbi, Gusau, Gashua and the National Open University of Nigeria.

The minister distinctly told the administrators that the previous VCs were sacked on the grounds that there was no law backing their arrangements in any case by previous President, Goodluck Jonathan.

For the previous NOUN VC, Prof. Vincent Tenebe, Adamu asserted that the representing committee of the college illicitly augmented his tenure.

In any case, administrators were incensed by his remarks, as they contended that Buhari, as the guest to the colleges, could just sack VCs on the suggestion of the overseeing chambers in contact with the Senate.

For NOUN, individuals noticed that it had a chamber set up, which tenure had not terminated as of the season of the sacking of the VC.

An individual from the board, Prof. Mojeed Alabi, portrayed the evacuation of the VCs as a demonstration of "exemption."

Responding to Adamu's case that four of the colleges were not appropriately settled, another individual from the board of trustees, Mr. Timothy Golu, said the minister ought to have exhorted the President to shut them down.

On his part, Suleiman inquired as to why the administration did not constitute the gatherings for the colleges so that the best possible system for the sacking of the VCs could be taken after.

The minister answered that the President got distinctive selections from "the gathering, states and different sources" for positions in the chambers.

Suleiman talked further, "The segment of the law you read to us didn't demonstrate that you can continue without the chamber. There are still disagreeable issues which you have to come and demonstrate to us plainly.

"So you have to accompany demonstrate to demonstrate to us. We sit to secure the law thus when we are defied with the procurement of the law, we surrender."

The officials were not fulfilled by the priest's reactions. They guided him to return again on Tuesday one week from now.

The improvement came as the House in whole, restricted a move by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Muhammed Bello, to shut down 556 tuition based schools in the region.

The schools are said to be working without the support of the law.
