SENATE GIVES CUSTOMS BOSS , CG HAMEED ALI ,AN ULTIMATUM TO APPEAR IN UNIFORM




For shunning the directives of the Senate that it should suspend the proposed vehicle duty ultimatum due to begin on April 12, the Senate on Thursday summoned the Comptroller -General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali, rtd to appear before it on Wednesday next week.

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Maitama, on Thursday sentenced to death two former policemen, Ezekiel Achejene and Emmanuel Baba, for being responsible for the death of two out of the six Igbo traders shot dead in Area 11 of Garki, Abuja, on June 8, 2005.

BASH ALI SUES MINISTER OF SPORTS, ASKS FOR N1 BILLION DAMAGES

International boxing champion, Bash Ali has filed a N1 billion suit against the minister of sports before a
High Court of Abuja, over the alleged violation of his fundamental human rights.
Listed as respondents in the suit, apart from the sports minister are, Nansel Nimyel, Inspector General of Police, Charles Boga and one Mr Joseph.

NIGERIAN SENATE STOPS CUSTOMS PLAN ON VEHICLE DUTY ULTIMATUM






The Senate, Tuesday, passed a resolution stopping the Nigerian Customs Service from implementing its planned vehicle duty ultimatum. The directive orders the Nigerian Customs Service to stop its plan to penalise Nigerians who do not pay duties on their vehicles within one month.
