MORE AWARENESS ON MADE IN NIGERIA PRODUCTS AND THE IMPORTANCE IS KEY

Buying made in Nigeria goods is obviously not sinking into every ones mind.
Rice a staple food and a must have in every home especially on Sundays  and mostly  at events has gradually become the food for the rich as some low and average income earners are unable to make outright purchase of this precious grain.

Walking in to a shop to check if I can find home grown bags of rice on display and to compare prices with the foreign made grains, I heard a man shouting to the sales attendant "I don't want any made in Nigeria rice".  It then struck me that some Nigerians are yet to understand the need to buy made in Nigeria goods and products.

The beans , yam, maize, millet etc that we consume are not foreign , so why don't we trust these same farmers produce to rice for us as well. We need to trust us and accord a little bit of confidence in our farmers and our production process. If the government had right the wrong in the production process of the then "Abakaliki Rice" which was completely removing the stones in the rice before selling to consumers, we would not have looked for option B.

We need to support /encourage our local farmers.  When we buy our products we grow our economy. This calls for the need to constantly create awareness in different languages, various social media, TV stations, radio stations, posters etc.

However, back to my mission, I, did not see any locally made rice in that shop and a foreign bag of 50kg goes for N18, 700.
